Summer School for Teachers

ECMECC offers full-day professional development opportunities centered around the use of technology in the classroom.  These sessions are free for staff to attend and take place at Braham high school. This year we are planning several exciting and fun filled days of exploration and learning all intended to help you be more prepared in your classroom.  Our session topics include Code.org – Computer Science for everyone, Exploration of Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Google Certifications, and Happy Teacher – Happy Classroom, creating Calm in your day. June 12 Computer Science with Code.org:  Code.org is a great resource to begin learning about computer science and how to help students conquer simple programming tasks while developing an interest in coding.

What’s in a Code.org workshop? In-person instruction from an experienced computer science facilitator, including an intro to computer science, pedagogy, an overview of online curriculum, teacher dashboard, strategies for teaching “unplugged” classroom activities.

June 17 Augmented and Virtual reality (AR)(VR) such as Google Expeditions, Tour Builder, Oculus, MergeCube, and others.  Explore how you can access, create and use AR/VR within your classroom to further the understanding complex topics through visualization.

July 10  Google Level 1 Certification: Ready to take your Google use to the next level, we will help you prepare for the Level 1 Certification test and provide you the tools to practice what you need to be successful.  You will also practice tips to make you a google ninja, ready to take on your students.

July 31 Happy Teacher – Happy Classroom, creating Calm in your day:  

Teachers are among the groups of professionals most seriously impacted by stress, depression, and psychological fatigue. Self-awareness and emotional intelligence build resilience and support teachers in their ability to cope with the emotional demands of teaching. We will share and practice strategies which can help you and your students manage stress and respond appropriately to difficult situations.
